David Powell FRICS, land surveyor and boundaries expert, will discuss how to handle boundary disputes. Boundary disputes, usually between property-owning neighbours, have been with us since records began and will likely continue for ever. The task is not to try and stop them from happening, but to find a way of dealing with them in an equitable and economic manner.
David Powell qualified as a land surveyor in the Royal Engineers in 1967, having attended the School of Military Survey. After practising as a land surveyor for 15 years, he established his own firm in Ringwood, Hampshire, and, in the past 37 years, he and his firm have operated as surveyors and consultants throughout Europe and further afield. David was a founding member of the RICS Boundaries and Party Walls Panel, is a past chairman of the land surveying division of the RICS, a member of the Land Registry Rules Committee and the current author of the “Anstey’s Boundary Disputes” series of books. David is committed to furthering mediation and alternative dispute resolution in property disputes.
In recent years, David has given talks on boundary and right-of-way disputes not only in the UK, but in Cairo, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, St Lucia, Oslo, Bergen and Athens.
David is a knowledgeable and informative speaker who will be sure to entertain. Not to be missed!
