Wood-burning stoves have become increasingly popular in recent years, driven by the higher costs of electricity, gas and oil, and by the desire to make use of wood, viewed as a sustainable fuel.

Fitted correctly by a qualified and experienced installer, wood-burning stoves are an attractive feature in a property.  But fitted DIY or by a general builder without an understanding of ventilation and flue requirements, let alone compliance with regulations, and the story is rather different.
